🌻Snapshot of Visions Summer Highlights🌻

Visions enjoyed a relaxing summer season punctuated with new community events, our standard weekly service projects that folks depend on, and new hands-on activities in the greater Richmond area. Among the highlights included taking on a new nonprofit client, who can't say enough about Visions workers, participation in Good Trouble, a nationwide day of action for social justice, and the recent launch of the new Visions website.

Anna Kircher from our new nonprofit client, YES Nature to Neighborhoods, said she was delighted to share the amazing contributions Visions workers have been making to their garden over the last few months. Kircher said they have 12 raised planter boxes in the garden at Nicholl Park that contain medicinal plants and pollinator. With the help of Visions participants, Kircher said the garden had been flourishing beautifully.

"With the help of the Visions workers, the garden has truly thrived. They’ve been a big help with watering, weeding, and harvesting, and their efforts have kept the plants flourishing through the summer," Kircher said.

The Visions Tribe also participated in the nationwide day of activism to honor John Lewis, the Civil Rights icon, on July 17th, the anniversary of his passing five years ago. They distributed signs honoring the day alongside millions across the country. The flyers went out to the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, which is now among the community partners that Visions serves. Chamber staff shared their gratitude for including them by sending flyers so they also could participate in the day of mass mobilization to stand up for American democracy.

Behind the scenes, Visions has been enjoying the support of two interns, Alise and Shaq, who collaboratively worked to build the new Visions website that marks a significant upgrade to the Visions online presence. Contributors to the project also included a University of California at Berkeley graduate student who studies marketing and is a specialist in designing appealing online interfaces that are user friendly and inviting.

Lastly, if you are a caregiver that hasn't yet met with Visions staff or spoken directly with Kandea Gandhi about the annual Visions Quality Assurance survey we administer to hear your feedback about our services and any ideas you may have, contact Kandea at kandea@stridelabs.org.
