Visions enjoyed an end of fall season that included Giving Tuesday, the annual international day of service on December 3rd, along with the weekly community contributions participants and staff make each year without fail.

This year, our community service took place closer to home at Supreme Kids Academy, the Richmond preschool that neighbors our offices. For the preschool, participants wiped down the outdoor playground equipment that young children use in order to maintain clean surfaces that guard against the upcoming wintertime flu and COVID season.

Visions CEO Gwen Captain said it was exciting to see how diligently everyone worked in service to the children everyone sees playing in the outdoor space every day.

"It was an honor to support the school by doing our part on Giving Tuesday. Participants wiped down the slides, tidied up the playground and also spread out the mulch," she said.

To wrap up the season was the Christmas luncheon that Ms. Gwen described as a testament to the power of community, determination and the remarkable achievements of the Visions Tribe. Everyone received awards to celebrate and highlight their strengths. The occasion was organized by Kim Randall and Renee Moore, with Modestine Johnson, Alverta Henderson, DMarco Cloud and Jasmine Henderson all pitching in to make the celebratory occasion memorable for all in attendance.

Jazz said the end-of-year luncheon was definitely enjoyable!

"Everybody liked it, and I enjoyed turkey, chicken, string beans and the cornbread dressing," he said. "It felt like a homecooked meal."

Ms. Alverta said she loved the luncheon, particularly because she supported its planning.

"I smoked two turkeys and made the string beans with potatoes," she said.

As we get ready for the end of 2024, exciting news to stay tuned for in 2025 is the upcoming publishing of Owen's book The White Reaper on Amazon.

Before we conclude, we'd like to give a special shout out to Derek for enlarging his skill set, with the support of staff. Derek is learning to sweep, dispose of trash, and wipe down empty stations without disturbing customers and staff at Legacy Beauty Salon!
